WANDA LEPHOTO is a Johannesburg, South Africa based Ready To Wear Menswear brand that redefines luxury dress using the plurality of culture, tradition, identity and history through story telling as a way to create new worlds of beauty in fashion.
In the year 1995 my late sister who also passed on in the same year was one of the first black models in a TV commercial for a fashion advert. Her memory has always stayed with me, she represented a new South Africa, a new generation filled with hopes, dreams and aspirations of a new horizon, a new world filled with endless possibilities not bound by constraints of a dark past.
South Africa has always been a melting pot for different cultures, attitudes, perspectives, differences and similarities. I was always inspired by the Spirit of the people, who have always been beautiful and resilient.
We created the Wanda Lephoto brand to reflect this new world and new generation. We created Wanda Lephoto so we could create new worlds, new cultures and new languages that would use all the past and present languages, cultures and worlds that inspire us.
